2008 WORLD CITIZEN AWARD

On March 14 in Leipzig Germany, Major Florian Pfaff will received the 2008 World

Citizen Award from the Association of World Citizens (AWC). The award is in recognition of the moral decision by Major Pfaff in 2003 to refuse orders to participate in the U.S.-led attack on Iraq. Major Pfaff followed his conscience, believing the war was an act of aggression and violation of international law. In 2005, the Federal Administrative Court of Germany ruled that Major Pfaff was “righteous” in his decision and not guilty of any illegal behavior. This case is a major story in Germany and Europe.

The award will be presented on Friday, March 14, 2008 at 10 a.m. during the Leipzig Book Fair at the Congress Center Leipzig (CCL), Messeallee 1, 04356 Leipzig, Germany.

Other individuals receiving the AWC World Citizen Award include Dr. Robert Muller, former United Nations Assistant-Secretary-General, The Reverend Jesse Jackson, Stanislav Petrov (resulting in a documentary movie entitled, The Man Who Saved the World, that will be released around September of 2008.

La 14an de marto en Lepsiko, Germanio, la majoro Florian Pfaff ricevos la Mondcivitanan 2008-Premion de la Mondcivitana Asocio (AWC). La premio estas donita pro la decido farita de la Majoro Pfaff en 2003 malobei la ordonon partopreni en la atako de Usono kontraŭ Irako. La majoro Pfaff agadis laŭ sia konscienco opiniante, ke la milito estis agreso kaj malobeo al la internacia juro. En 2005 federacia administra Tribunalo de Germanio juĝis, ke la decido de majoro Pfaff estis « prava », kaj ke tiu ĉi kulpis pri neniu kontraŭleĝa konduto. Tiu kazo konsistigas gravan faron en Germanio kaj en Eŭropo.

La premio estos donita vendrede la 14an de marto 2008 je 10 h dum la libro-foiro de Lepsiko en la Lepsika kongresejo (CCL) ), Messeallee 1, 04356 Leipzig, Germanio.

La aliaj nomumitaj al la Mondcivitana AWC-premio estas la D-ro Robert Muller, eksa adjunkta Ĝenerala Sekretario de UN, pastro Jesse Jackson kaj Stanislav Petrov (pro dokumenta filmo titolita « la homo, kiu savis la mondon », kiu eldoniĝos en septembro 2008).

Prix des Citoyens du Monde 2008
Le 14 mars à Leipzig, Allemagne, le major Florian Pfaff recevra le Prix des Citoyens du Monde 2008 de l'Association des citoyens du monde (AWC). Le prix est décerné en reconnaissance de la décision prise par le major Pfaff en 2003, de désobéir à l’ordre de participer à l’attaque des États Unis contre l'Irak. Le major Pfaff a suivi sa conscience, en estimant que la guerre était un acte d'agression et de violation du droit international. En 2005, le Tribunal administratif fédéral de l'Allemagne a jugé que la décision du major Pfaff était «fondée», et que celui-ci n’était coupable d’aucun comportement illégal. Ce cas constitue un acte majeur en Allemagne et en Europe.
Le prix sera décerné le vendredi 14 mars 2008 à 10 heures au cours de la Foire du livre de Leipzig au Centre de Congrès de Leipzig (CCL), Messeallee 1, 04356 Leipzig, Allemagne.
Les autres nominés au Prix des Citoyens du Monde AWC sont le Dr. Robert Muller, ancien Secrétaire Général adjoint des Nations Unies, le révérend Jesse Jackson, et Stanislav Petrov (en raison du film documentaire intitulé « l’homme qui a sauvé le monde », qui sortira en Septembre 2008).
